Iktus is commited to expanding and preserving contemporary music through educational residencies and outreach programs that may include masterclasses, workshops, ensemble coachings, performances and lessons.

Residencies:

Through their residency programs, Iktus offers masterclasses and lessons to aspiring composers and performers, presents concerts of student compositions, collaborates with student performers, and coaches ensembles.  

Below, is a brief summary of our residencies at CUNY Brooklyn College, SUNY Purchase College, and Stony Brook University Pre-College music program:


CUNY Brookyln College: Fall 2010-Spring 2011

  • Workshop for student composers and performers: "How to write for percussion"
  • Read-through, performance and recording of student compositions
  • International Electronic Music Festival: Stockhausen's Kontakte
  • Iktus and Friends Concert: Works by Andriessen, Reynolds, Grisey, Donatoni and Smith
SUNY Purchase College: Fall 2008-Spring 2010
  • Workshop for student composers and performers: "How to write for percussion" 
  • Iktus+1: New works for percussion quartet + soloist
  • Music for a Recession: New works for found objects
  • Percussion Labyrinth: New works emphasizing movement and surround sound
  • Iktus and Friends: with percussion ensembles from Stony Brook University, William Paterson University, Queens College and SUNY Purchase
  • Student Composers Concert at Purchase College and Nicholas Roerich Museum

Stony Brook University Pre-College Music Program: Fall 2010-Spring 2011
  • Iktus presents: Day of Percussion with percussion ensembles from SUNY Purchase, Stony Brook University and Queens College.
Outreach:

Through their outreach programs, Iktus works with younger students to present hands on, interactive and collaborative opportunities for performance, improvisation, listening, and movement.
